Affiliate Disclosure
Every recommendation site should be able to tell you exactly how it gets paid. Here is ours, without the hedging.

The disclosure itself
As an Amazon Associate, Hopui earns from qualifying purchases. Hopui participates in the Amazon EU Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.co.uk. We may also participate in affiliate programmes run by other retailers and manufacturers.
This means many of the outbound product links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may receive a commission — and you pay exactly the same price you would have paid otherwise. The commission comes out of the retailer's margin, not your pocket.
What an affiliate link actually does
An affiliate link is an ordinary link with a tracking parameter attached. When you follow one, the retailer records that the visit came from Hopui and sets a cookie in your browser. If you buy something within their cookie window, they attribute the sale to us and pay a percentage.
What we can see:
- Anonymised, aggregate reports of how many items were ordered through our links.
What we cannot see:
- Who you are, or anything that identifies you;
- Your payment details, delivery address, or account;
- What else is in your basket, or anything you buy outside our links.
Our Privacy Policy covers this in more detail.
Why this does not bend our rankings
The honest reason is structural rather than moral: affiliate commission rates within a product category are effectively flat. We earn a similar percentage whether you buy the £379 chair or the £1,999 one, and we earn nothing at all if we send you to a chair you return. A guide that pushes people toward the wrong product produces returns, not income.
The commitments behind that:
- No paid placements. A manufacturer cannot buy a position, a score, an award, or a mention. We have declined these offers and will continue to.
- No pre-publication review. Brands do not see drafts, do not get to correct scores, and find out what we thought when you do.
- We do not claim testing we have not done. These guides are desk research, stated as such at the top of every page. We have never accepted a product in exchange for coverage, and if we begin testing units directly we will say so plainly rather than implying it.
- Negatives stay in. Every entry on this site lists what to watch out for, including on products we recommend and profit from.
- We will tell you not to buy. If the right answer is “none of these” or “wait”, that is what the guide will say, even though it earns us nothing.
You can read the testing process in full on how we research.
Where you will see disclosures
Following CMA guidance on hidden advertising and the equivalent FTC guidance on endorsements, disclosure is placed where you will actually encounter it rather than only in the small print: a notice near the top of every page containing affiliate links, above the first such link; a permanent notice in the site footer; and this page. Affiliate links are also marked up withrel="sponsored nofollow" so that search engines can identify them as monetised.
Prices and availability
Prices shown on this site are indicative and were accurate when checked. Retail prices for this category move constantly and discounting is heavy. Always confirm the price, the specification, and the seller on the retailer's own page before you buy — that figure, not ours, is the one that applies.
